Alvin Mckay Wilson, affectionately known as "Big Al - Turn Around," passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026. Born on May 23, 1951, in Richmond, Virginia, Alvin lived a full and vibrant life marked by his dedication to his craft, his warmth, and his spirited personality.
Alvin was a distinguished expert brick mason, a trade he wholeheartedly loved and embraced throughout his career. His outstanding workmanship reflected not only skill but also pride in his work, earning him respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his professional achievements, Alvin had a zest for life that was evident in his outgoing nature and excellent communication skills. A fervent enthusiast of auto racing, he found joy and excitement in the roar of engines and the thrill of the track.
His education began in the Richmond Public Schools, where the foundation was laid for a lifetime of learning and perseverance. Alvin was equally passionate about his hobbies and interests—whether playing pool, chess, bowling, or dancing, he approached each with enthusiasm and a competitive spirit. Among his proudest accomplishments was his work racing cars, which brought him immense satisfaction and a sense of achievement.
Alvin’s family was central to his life. He is survived by his devoted lifetime partner, Laurie Talley, who shared many years of companionship and love with him. His children include one daughter, Chanettelle Wilson Lundy; two sons, Justin Wilson and Dray-on Wilson; four granddaughters; and one great-grandson, who carry forward his legacy. He is also remembered by his brother Andre Wilson, along with Andre’s wife, Connie; sister-in-law Margorie Wilson; and a circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends who treasured his presence.
Alvin was preceded in death by his father, Paul Wilson; mother, Irene Stuart Wilson; and twin brother Irvin and brother Paul Wilson, whose memories he held dear.
A celebration of Alvin Mckay Wilson’s life will be held on April 3, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service at Joseph Jenkins Jr Funeral Home, located at 2011 Grayland Ave, Richmond, VA 23220.
Alvin’s warmth, skill, and joy for life have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His family and friends honor and remember a man who lived with passion, embraced his community, and whose spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.
