Amaris Zakiya Rose Matos

Amaris Zakiya Rose Matos, an adventurous and imaginative spirit, was born on October 27, 2006, in Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. She passed away on January 12, 2026, at the tender age of 19. Amaris was an outgoing young woman whose vibrant personality brought joy to everyone she encountered.

Amaris was homeschooled and was soon poised to embark on her college journey, a testament to her dedication and commitment to learning. Known for her creativity and organizational skills, she had a unique way of approaching life that blended humor and structure, often acting as the family jokester who could light up a room with laughter.

Her interests were as diverse as her talents; Amaris had a profound love for puzzles, cosplay, and anime. She possessed a fascination with Asian languages, particularly Japanese and Korean, and enjoyed traveling to explore new cultures. Equally passionate about equestrian activities, she found joy in riding horses, embracing the freedom and connection that it offered her.

She leaves behind her devoted family: her mother, Rebecca Mina; her father, Luis Mantos; sisters Adia Matos and Raine Matos; brother Aveon Mina; her cherished grandmother, Maritza Toledo and grandfather Luis Matos; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and her beloved feline companion, Mouse.

Amaris's warmth and vitality will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind countless memories, each one a testament to her loving spirit and indomitable zest for life.
