Andrew Lester Harris, affectionately known as Lester, was born on August 21, 1949, in Richmond, Virginia. He departed this life on November 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Lester dedicated himself to his career as a Supervisor at Dupont, showcasing a passion for his work that resonated deeply with all who knew him. He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his vibrant personality. An outgoing individual, he brought joy to his family with his humor and love for life.
A proud graduate of Maggie Walker High School in Richmond, Lester possessed a zest for culinary exploration, often delighting in trying new foods and recipes. His interests extended beyond the kitchen; he found joy in sports, particularly basketball and softball, and relished quiet moments playing solitaire. Above all, he had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, with whom he shared countless joyful moments.
Lester's spirit will continue to live on in the memories of his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda Harris, and their daughters, Shaynelle Wynn (Antonio) and Shayne Crawford (Dwayne), as well as his son, Marlon Jay Pitchford, and step-son, Aubrey Brown (Melanie). He also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren who were blessed to have him in their lives. Lester was a proud brother to his sisters, Patsy Battle (Wendell) and Patricia LuLu Thorpe (Sylvester Clyde), and his brothers, Al Harris (Louise) and Kent Harris (Shirley). He is remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends among them Angelo Moore(Alow) and good neighbor Tony Johnson whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Edward Harris, and three brothers, Bobby, James, and Clyde Harris.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lester’s life at his funeral service, which will take place on November 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Joseph Jenkins Jr Funeral Home located at 2011 Grayland Ave, Richmond, VA 23220. The service will conclude at 2:00 PM.
Andrew Lester Harris will be missed dearly, but his memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
