Anthony Nester Jones

Anthony Nester Jones, born on April 23, 1967, left this world peacefully on August 20, 2026, at the age of 59. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Anthony was educated in Richmond Public Schools, where he began a lifelong journey of growth and learning. His dedication extended into his working years, and those who crossed paths with him during his time at Goodwill remember him as diligent and warm-hearted. Anthony brought an admirable sense of responsibility and care to his work, always putting people first, and leaving a smile on the faces of colleagues and patrons alike.

Music played an important role in Anthony's life. He especially enjoyed listening to vinyl records, finding great comfort and joy in the melodies of his favorite albums. Alongside his passion for music, Anthony had a notable curiosity and appreciation for history, often immersing himself in stories of the past and cherishing the lessons learned from them.

Anthony was known to all as someone who was passionate and loved life. He was good-hearted and had a generosity of spirit that was felt by everyone around him. Whether it was lending a helping hand or sharing words of kindness, he was always willing to do anything for you.

A source of immense pride for Anthony was his participation in the Special Olympics, where his athletic ability earned him various awards. These accomplishments reflected not only his dedication and talent, but also his courage and determination—a true testament to the person he was.

Anthony leaves behind his loving sister, Gloria Wright, and his brother, John Ball, who will forever keep his memory alive in their hearts. He is reunited in eternal peace with his father, Stanley W. Jones Sr.; his mother, Annie D. Blount Jones; his brothers, Kevin and Stanley Jones Jr.; and his sister, Jennifer Simms.

A funeral service to honor Anthony’s life will be held on September 4, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Joseph Jenkins Jr Funeral Home, located at 2011 Grayland Ave, Richmond, VA 23220. All who wish to pay their respects and remember Anthony are welcome to attend.

Though Anthony Nester Jones has departed from our sight, his warmth, kindness, and the legacy of love and accomplishment he leaves behind will remain a guiding light for all who knew him.
