Brenda Yvonne (Baker) Black went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. She was born to the late Corrine Nash Baker and William Roscoe Baker, Sr. on May 20, 1949, in Richmond, Virginia. She was one of seven (7) siblings. She is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore R. Black, Jr., her sister, Carolyn E. Rush, and brother William R. Baker, Jr.

Brenda attended Richmond Public Schools and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1967. She worked for the Richmond Times-Dispatch for 5 years and worked for the City of Richmond for 27 years until her retirement in 2010.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Ellen Baker Willis and Marilyn Baker; two brothers, Richard R. Baker (Brenda), and Larry C. Baker, Sr. (Martha); and her aunt, Helen Davenport; stepchildren, Germel Gray, Carl Nichols, Theodore R. Black III, and Helen Day; 2 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends, devoted best friend forever (BFF), Fay White Johnson; and devoted friend Toni Taylor.
