Byron L. Whitehead

Byron L. Whitehead was born on December 22, 1967, a day that marked the arrival of a vibrant spirit into this world. On July 27, 2026, Byron departed this life, leaving behind a legacy marked by faith, humor, and steadfast love for family.

Throughout his life, Byron’s devotion to those he cherished guided his every step. His journey began in Richmond, where he attended Richmond Public Schools, laying the foundation for his sharp mind and outspoken nature. Byron was known for his quick wit and a sense of humor that could light up any room. He was very smart and never shied away from speaking his mind; his impulsive energy enlivened family gatherings and endeared him to many.

Faith played a central role in Byron’s life. A true man of faith and a good prayer warrior, he found strength and solace in his spirituality, which he often shared with those around him. Anyone who spoke with Byron quickly realized how much he loved to talk about his family—a source of deep pride and joy. Bryon’s admiration for his mother was evident in all that he did, and he frequently spoke of how much he looked up to his brother.

Byron’s love and guidance shaped a large and loving family. He is survived by his daughters Delanda Alexander, Dionnedra Alexander, Shelley Greer, and Jennifer Fobbs, and by his sons Duron Beavers and Byron Whitehead Jr. His mother, Dorothy Whitehead Turner, also survives him and continues to be a pillar for the family. Among his siblings, Byron is lovingly remembered by his sisters Debbie Moss-Green and Darlia Jefferson, and his brothers Gregory Whitehead, Lamont Ray, Anthony Whitehead, Eric Whitehad, and Dwayne Whitehead.

As he joins those who preceded him in rest—his sister Shelley Ray, Henry Turner, daughters Sophia Alexander and Tyra Whitehead, brother Tyrees Whitehead, and brother Warrick Ray—Bryon's spirit remains a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.

Bryon's passions extended beyond his family and faith. He had a genuine love for fitness and delighted in sharing his singing voice, further brightening the lives of those around him. Among his proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren, whose lives continue to reflect his enduring influence and love.
