Danise Anita Harmon, lovingly known to many as Dee Dee, was born on August 19, 1963, in Richmond, Virginia. She passed away on January 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and community service.
A proud alumna of Open High School in Richmond, Danise furthered her education at ECPI University, where she earned her degree in Business. Her career journey was intertwined with her commitment to excellence, exemplified by her tenure at Virginia Commonwealth University where she retired after 35 years. Throughout her professional life, Danise embraced challenges with hard work and determination, embodying the values she instilled in her loved ones.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Danise was most passionate about her family. She cherished bringing her family together, nurturing relationships grounded in love and support. She had a special bond with everyone in her family, demonstrating a remarkable ability to uplift and encourage those around her.
Danise's warm personality was characterized by her caring nature and willingness to help others in need. An avid lover of the outdoors, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, and traveling. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her granddaughter, Madison, whom she adored and treasured as her biggest joy.
Danise leaves behind her devoted husband of 29 years, Sidney James Harmon III; her beloved daughter, Daricka Danielle Jones; her two sons, Quincy James and Malcolm Tyreese Harmon; and her cherished granddaughter, Madison Janee'. She is also survived by her loving mother, LaVerne Berry Jones and sister LaNette Marlene Jones; Goddaughter Nicole Gore and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends who will remember her for her giving spirit and protective nature.
Danise was predeceased by her father, Herbert Maxfield Jones Jr., and her sister, Dakida Loreal Jones.
A funeral service to celebrate Danise's life will be held on January 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Fifth Baptist Church, located at 1415 W Cary St, Richmond, VA 23220. Family and friends are welcomed to gather to honor and remember a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
