Delores Patterson

Delores Patterson, born on March 12, 1938, passed away on October 10, 2026. She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, and a woman whose warmth, energy, and generosity touched the lives of many.

A graduate of Armstrong High School in Richmond, Virginia, Delores also held a degree in occupational therapy. She dedicated herself to caring for others through her work as a nurses assistant at The Virginia Home and many other institutions. Her professional life reflected the same giving spirit that defined her personally, as she loved to help others and brought compassion to those around her.

Delores was very outgoing and feisty, qualities that made her memorable to everyone who knew her. She was a great mother, and her family remained at the center of her life. She loved bringing family together, and that gift of connection became one of her proudest accomplishments. She also enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and cooking, and she was known as a great decorator. Above all, she loved her family deeply.

She is survived by her husband, Maurice E. Patterson Sr.; her three sons, Maurice E. Patterson Jr. and his wife Laretta, Michael R. Patterson and his wife Victoria, and Roderick Patterson and his wife Kelly. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish her memory. Her family will remember her with love and gratitude for the care, strength, and joy she shared so freely throughout her life.

Delores Patterson’s life was marked by love, service, and the special ability to bring people together. Her memory will continue to live on in the family she cherished and in all those who were blessed to know her.
