Eldrdige Frank Smith

Watch Funeral Here Eldridge Frank Smith, Sr. departed his earthly life peacefully in his home on April 2, 2021 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born in Richmond, VA on November 1, 1943 to the late Eldora S. Turner and to the late Frank Howard. He attended Richmond Public Schools and received his early Christian education at the Hood Temple A.M.E. Church. Eldridge, affectionately known as Frank, worked for almost 38 years for Alcatraz Paint Company also known as Sampson Paint. He also worked for McClendon Trucking Company. He drove tractor trailers for over 40 years and provided for his family well. In retirement, Frank worked part-time for Bon Secours Hospitals. Since 1978, Frank has been a member of the Prince Hall Lodge Perfect Ashler #159, Richmond, Virginia. Frank was married to the late Joyce L. Smith of Richmond, VA and to this union were born Eldridge F. Smith, Jr and Yvette D. Smith. Frank is also the father of the late Frank Parks and the late LaVelda Hopson. He later married Rosa Puryear Smith who proceeded him in death as well. Devoted life-partner and friend, Barbara Ann Smith and Frank enjoyed life together until his passing. To this union was born Shontell Smith. Eldridge Frank Smith, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory Barbara Smith, his son Eldridge Frank Smith, Jr. (Valerie), Yvette Smith Coleman, Shontell Smith, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many friends as Frank never met a stranger.
