Eliza Dixon Smith

Eliza Catherine Dixon Smith was born on Sept 4, 1951. She departed this life on Aug 4, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born in Martinsville, Va to S.A. Dixon and Edna Flood Dixon and grew up in Axton.

 She had five siblings, two of whom preceded her in death, Donnie (Karen) and Francis. She leaves behind Lee (Tricia), Ronnie (Wanda) and Judy (Walter).

 Eliza moved to Richmond, Va after high school to attend college at VCU and VUU. It was there she met her husband of 50 years, Thurman Smith Jr. She was blessed with two children, Tineesha (Troy) and Thurman III (Mia); four grandchildren, Teazia, Thurman IV, DeAndre, and Daysia; Also one great granddaughter, Yara. She also leaves behind a very special childhood friend, Dr. Annie Kate Ferrell (Vernard), parents of her goddaughter, Dr. Venecia Ferrell and two very close cousins, Jackie Washington (Ronnie) and Dr. Vann Motley Johnson (Greg).

 Liza was a huge proponent of giving people their flowers while they were living, and if you knew her you were blessed with many. 

She chose to privately and quietly leave this place, and to honor her wishes, there will be no further gatherings. Please continue to keep her family in prayer as they navigate the future days of life without her.
