Forrest LeRoyal Brackett, born on January 6, 1937 in Goochland, Virginia, departed this life peacefully on July 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, humor, and love.
Forrest’s life was guided by an unwavering work ethic, which was evident from an early age and became the foundation for his remarkable career as a self-employed general contractor. His reputation for honesty, commitment, and craftsmanship was widely known and respected. Throughout his years of service, he touched countless lives and laid down not just concrete and wood, but also the memories and dreams of many families.
Faith played a significant role in Forrest’s life. He served as a devoted trustee at Evergreen Baptist Church, where his leadership and steady presence made a lasting impact on the congregation. Forrest’s connection with his church was deeply important to him, as was his pride in his role as a Mason.
Beyond his work and faith, Forrest lived life to the fullest. He loved to travel and always did so in style, never missing an opportunity to showcase his sense of fashion. Whether traveling or at home, his vibrant personality and great sense of humor were ever-present, making friends and family smile through every gathering and conversation.
Above all, Forrest cherished his family. He was a loving father to his daughter, Wautausa Brackett, and found immense joy in the company of his grandchildren, Tyshad J. Brackett and Jordan J. Brackett, whom he loved dearly. Forrest is also survived by his brothers, John J. Brackett Jr. and Joseph Brackett, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends
He now joins in eternal rest his beloved wife, Margaret Ann Brackett, and his dear sisters, Geraldine B. Ferguson, Ellen A. Saunders, Louise B. Clarke, and Queen B. Bell, whose spirits and memories he treasured throughout his life.
Forrest LeRoyal Brackett will be remembered for his boundless love for his family, his commitment to his faith, and the laughter he brought to all who knew him. His presence graced our lives and his memory will continue to inspire and unite those he leaves behind.
