Frances Virginia Patterson

Frances Virginia Harris Patterson, daughter of the late Eunice Powell and Estes Harris, was born on February 25, 1927, in Gaston, North Carolina. After living a full and meaningful journey, she entered eternal rest peacefully on May 10, 2025.

A woman of faith, Frances was a former member of Cedar Street Baptist Church of God, where she served faithfully on the usher board until she was no longer able. She constantly was ministered to via televised Sunday church, gospel programs, and gospel music.

Frances was a loving, nonjudgmental presence in her family- always embracing others with grace and kindness. Her zest for making everyone feel welcome was a testimony to her Christian spirit and loving kindness. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends for her love of cooking and fellowshipping with others. She was a hostess who always made sure everyone returned again and again.

Frances is survived by two nieces: Jean Smith, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Mable Jackson, Rosedale, NY; eight nephews: John Harris, Richmond, VA; Marvin Harris (Pamela), Richmond, VA; Estee Harris, Richmond, VA; Henry Harris (Ivey), Richmond, VA; Ernest Harris, Jr., Richmond, VA; David Harris, Richmond, VA; Larry Jackson, Roanoke Rapids, NC; and Richard Harris, Jr., Richmond, VA, a host of great-nieces and great nephews, other loving relatives, and friends. She was deeply admired and cherished by her devoted companion, Mr. Roosevelt Johnson.

Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue, where Mrs. Patterson can be viewed on Saturday & Sunday, May 17th & 18th, from 11:00am - 6:00pm. The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 3:30pm - 4:30pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 11:00am. Interment, Maury Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 10:45am on Monday.
