James Vincent Jr. passed away on September 12, 2026, at the age of 71. He was born on July 10, 1955.
James was educated in the New York Public Schools and went on to serve his country as an Army Veteran. He later worked as a truck driver, a role that reflected his steady and hardworking nature.
He will be remembered as a humorous, happy, and loving man who spoke with directness and lived with deep spirituality. James also had a rich appreciation for Black history and culture, and he brought that knowledge into the lives of those around him. He enjoyed playing the congos, an interest that reflected both his spirit and his connection to culture and expression.
Above all, James treasured his family. He is survived by his daughters, Niyanni Reideout and Ninhurta El Vincent, known as Nina, and by his son, Naphish Shajarel El Vincent. He is also survived by his sisters, Valerie Vincent, Kathleen Vincent, and Diane Vincent, and by his brothers, Calvin Vincent and Carlton Vincent. May their memories of James bring comfort, strength, and peace in the days ahead.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Vincent, and his mother, Sadie Vincent.
James Vincent Jr. will be remembered with love for his warmth, his humor, his spiritual nature, and the way he carried both knowledge and joy through his life. His memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
