Joseph Williams, a cherished member of the Richmond community and beloved maintenance engineer at The Hermitage, passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 84. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Joseph was a proud graduate of Armstrong High School, having laid the foundation for a life characterized by dedication, creativity, and an immense capacity for love.
Throughout his career, Joseph distinguished himself as an exceptional maintenance engineer, recognized for his hard work and commitment to excellence. He was honored to receive the Employee of the Year award, a testament to his outstanding contributions and the admiration he garnered from his colleagues. His technical skills were matched only by his remarkable sense of humor, which brought joy to those around him.
Joseph was not only a devoted professional but also a family man who deeply cared for his loved ones. He is survived by three loving sisters, Lois Vaughan, Juanita Carter, and Gloria Nash; along with a host of nieces and nephews, among them Wayne and Kevin Holmes, Cynthia Baxter, Belinda Evans (Billy), Debra Womack (Vernon), Barbara and Anthony and Joe Lewis as well as many other relatives and friends. Their lives are richer for having known Joseph, who was truly one of a kind.
His passion extended beyond his work; Joseph enjoyed singing, especially with the Twandas, the Gale Tones and the Glory Tones, his favorite songs were Three Pictures of Lord and I Can't Walk Without Yo Holding My Hand, shopping, and traveling to explore new cities and visit museums. These hobbies allowed him to connect with the world around him, and his spirit will forever be remembered through the lasting memories he created with family and friends.
Joseph is preceded in death by his mother and father Mary and James Williams, brother James Williams, and sisters Beatrice Goode and Thelma. His absence will be felt profoundly by all who knew him.
A funeral service in honor of Joseph Williams will take place on October 25, 2025, at Joseph Jenkins Jr Funeral Home in Richmond, VA. The service will begin at 1:00 PM.
