Lorraine Virgie LeMonte Chavis

Bravely and quietly on a bright sunny day, in the arms of an angel you quietly slipped away.

Lorraine Virgie LeMonte Woodson Chavis, was born on September 11, 1942, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Louise S. and James Richard Woodson, Sr.  Lorraine entered eternal rest on October 21, 2023.

Lorraine received a GED from the Richmond Public School system.  She later went on to receive an associate degree from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College.

Lorraine accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.   Lorraine worked at Crawford Manufacturing Company for several years until their closure.  She retired from Central Fidelity Bank where she worked for many years.  She finished out her working career as a  Valued Walmart Associate.  

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Chavis, Jr.; her parents,  Louise S. Woodson and James Richard (Dick) Woodson; Brothers James Richard (Sleepy) Woodson, Milton Woodson, and Marvin  Woodson; and sisters, Carolyn Carroll and Thelma Carroll.

Lorraine leaves to cherish her loving memory; daughters Lorraine Chavis and Carolyn Chavis, sons, Tony Chavis and Tommy Chavis; aunt Margaret Lee; sister-in-law, Celestine Woodson; grandchildren,  Corey Chavis, Treyvon Chavis, Brien Chavis, Ciara Chavis and Tia Chavis; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, acquaintances and friends.

Memorial Services will be held 10:30AM Saturday October 28, 2023 at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home
