Louise Maxine Baker, fondly known as "Mackie," passed away on August 25, 2025, in Midlothian, Virginia, at the age of 89. Born on February 24, 1936, Louise was a devoted member of her community and a pillar of strength for her family and friends.

Louise dedicated her career to the healthcare field as a Certified Nursing Assistant at DeePaul Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, and as a private duty nurse. Throughout her professional life, she exhibited a kind-hearted nature, always willing to do anything for someone in need. This compassion extended beyond her career; Louise loved children and cherished spending time with her family, creating lasting memories that they will carry with them forever.

An educational foundation built at Northampton County Public Schools instilled in Louise a lifelong passion for learning and caring for others. Her favorite pastimes included travel, dancing, and engaging in word games, which reflected her vibrant spirit and zest for life. Louise’s proudest accomplishment was giving her life to Jehovah, a testament to her deep faith and commitment.

Louise leaves behind a loving family, including her five daughters: Malinda Pugh, Saundra Diggs (Ivan), Carol Brite (Benjamin), Brenda Hunlen, and Angel Hall (Forrest), alongside her two sons, Otis and Rodney Pugh. She was the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren, a doting great grandmother to 25 great grandchildren, and a cherished great great grandmother to 2 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Eva McNeil; her brother, Aaron Goode; her sister-in-law, Pearly Goode; and a host of other relatives and friends who will remember her with love and admiration.

Preceding Louise in death were her parents, Jesse and Aaron Goode, who laid the groundwork for her nurturing spirit.

A funeral service honoring her life will be held on September 2, 2025, at Joseph Jenkins Jr Funeral Home in Richmond, Virginia, starting at 2:00 PM, with interment to follow.

Louise Maxine Baker will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering kindness, dedication to her family, and the joy she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
