Lula Smytha Johnson

Mrs. Lula Smytha Johnson, 86 of Richmond, peacefully entered eternal rest on September 26, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Vernell Johnson, daughter Gloria J. Bowles, parents Harrison P. and Evangeline Johnson of Amelia County, VA, brothers, Reverend Dorsey Johnson, James Johnson and Hazel Johnson, sisters, Mattie Langhorne, Pearlene Hawkins, Mary Crenshaw, and Gladys Cosby, grandsons, Michael and Marquis J. Bowles. Surviving are her two devoted sons, Reverend Pernell J. Johnson (Lisa) and Alford Johnson all of Richmond, VA. Sisters-in-law, Eva Johnson, Juanita Whiters and Barbara Johnson, brother in-law, James Gardner, son-in-law, Michael Bowles, four granddaughters, two grandsons, twenty-two great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services entrusted to Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at the Sharon Baptist Church, 500 E. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23222. Pastor Paul A. Coles, Officiating, Reverend Pernell J. Johnson, Eulogist. Interment at Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the church at 11:45 a.m.
