Lydell Pollard Robinson, born on December 11, 1958, in Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025. He was a cherished individual who worked as a kitchen aid at Virginia Commonwealth University and was known for his vibrant personality that lit up every room he entered. Lydell’s fun and energetic nature, coupled with his ever-present smile, endeared him to many.
A proud alumnus of Richmond Public Schools, Lydell had a zest for life that was evident in both his personal and professional endeavors. He was particularly well-regarded for his ability to connect with children, often bringing joy and laughter into their lives, reinforcing his reputation as a great loving brother and a warm-hearted friend.
Lydell’s hobbies included fixing things, which showcased his practical skills and resourcefulness. He also had a deep-seated love for music and television, often finding inspiration and joy through these avenues.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Jacqueline Robinson, and three nieces, Chimere, Austasia, and Chineka Robinson, along with a host of great nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Lydell was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Robinson, and his mother, Lessie Mae Jones.
A funeral service to celebrate Lydell’s life will be held on July 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Joseph Jenkins Jr Funeral Home, located at 2011 Grayland Ave, Richmond, VA 23220. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor the memory of a wonderful man who touched the lives of many. Lydell will always be remembered for his unwavering spirit and the love he shared with those around him.
