Ronald Douglas Saunders Sr., affectionately known by many as "Rumbay," passed away on December 3, 2025, in his lifelong hometown of Richmond, Virginia. Born on March 11, 1945, Ronald lived a life rich with purpose and dedication, both to his family and his career.

Ronald was a product of Maggie L. Walker High School, where he cultivated his inquisitive nature and straightforward personality, traits he carried with him throughout his life. He devoted a significant part of his professional journey to working at UniFirst  Uniform Services, where he made an indelible mark on those who knew him.

In his personal life, Ronald found joy in his simple pleasures. He was an avid fan of Westerns and had a particular passion for football, proudly supporting the Dallas Cowboys. His love for these pastimes was often shared with family and friends, reflecting his reserved yet warm demeanor.

Held dear by his family, Ronald is survived by his beloved daughter, Sharron Saunders, and his son, Ronald Saunders Jr. (Roxanne). He was a proud grandfather to Ronisha Saunders, Ronald Saunders III, and Shelby Spellman, and his legacy continues with his great-grandchild, Ava Spellman. In addition to his immediate family, he is remembered fondly by six step-siblings, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends who were enriched by his presence.

Ronald Douglas Saunders Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love and pride, particularly in regard to his grandchildren and great-grandchild, who brought him immense joy. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
