Emerson L. Shelton

Emerson L. Shelton of Richmond, VA, passed away on May 24, 2021, at the age of 84. Born in Buckingham, VA, he was the second oldest child of Allen Harvey Shelton and Elise Shelton Gray.

Emerson was married to Sandra (Stokes) Shelton for more than 59 years. He served as a Captain in the US Army, an executive for Reynolds Metals Company and, after retirement from Reynolds, he served as a Lay Minister in the United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will take place at Richmond’s First Baptist Church, 2709 Monument Avenue in Richmond, VA, on Friday, July 23, at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, Emerson requested donations be sent to Virginia Cancer Institute, Jerusalem Baptist Church (Buckingham, VA), Needle's Eye Ministry, and Richmond’s First Baptist Church Compassion Ministries.
