Shirley Burt Braxton‑Houze, age 87 of Henrico, Virginia, peacefully transitioned from this life on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, John Houze, Jr.; loving daughter, Janice Houze Gray (Robert); her devoted sister, Emma L. Burt; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue, where Mrs. Braxton-Houze can be viewed on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 10:00am to 6:00pm, Monday, August 10, 2026, from 10:00am to 8:00pm with visitation with family from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, 12noon, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 216 W. Leigh St. Interment, Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Glen Allen, Virginia. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church on Tuesday at 11:45am.
