Vester Lee McCollum Jr.

Vester Lee McCollum Jr., age 68, of Richmond, departed this life on July 4, 2025. He retired from the US Army as a Sergeant First Class. He was Vice-President of the Military Retiree’s Club.

Mr. McCollum is survived by his wife, Faye E. McCollum; one daughter, Courtney Phillips (Quentin); one son Tervis McCollum (Winston); a special son, Quade Aalim (Yolanda); four grandchildren, Emory & Evan Phillips, and Jaxon & Quinn McCollum; three sisters, Vickie Griffin (Loyd), Glenda Agorsor (James) and Gloria Saunders (Dwayne); one brother, Gary McCollum (Cookie); a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; father-in-law, Abraham Rhames; sisters-in-law, Deborah Lowry(George) and Sinai Rhames; brothers-in-law, Jerome Greene and Abraham Rhames Jr.(Carolle); and other relatives and friends.

Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue, where he can be viewed on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 11:00am to 5:30pm, and on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 10:00am to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Quioccasin Baptist Church, 9011 Quioccasin Road, where remains will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral time. Dr. Theodore Brown, Pastor, Officiating.

Interment, Amelia Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 10:45am on Tuesday.
