Departed this life February 5th, 2021. Mrs. Vivian Griffis, age 90, of Richmond. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Garland Griffis Sr. and her loving and devoted sister Jean D. Battle Alston. She is survived by three daughters, Juanita Evonne Griffis-White, Teretha Gayle Griffis-Clarke and Debra Denise Griffis-McGill; two sons Joseph Edward Griffis Jr.(Diane) and Larry Donald Griffis(L. Francine); nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Daniel Battle Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; two brothers-in-law, Edward Harris and Henry Griffis; and other relatives and friends. She was a lifetime member of the Moore Street Missionary Baptist Church. She was a founding member of the Young Women’s Christian League. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where Mrs. Griffis can be viewed Tuesday from 10 to 8PM and where funeral services will be held Wednesday 11AM. Dr. Alonza Lawrence off. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The governor’s guidance on social distancing will be followed.
