Waddell Smoot Venable of Richmond died April 24th, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, Isiah Venable and one son, Darrell Isiah Venable. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Shelia Scott(Willie); three sons, John L. & Wayne A. Wood; and David W. Venable(Teresa); 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; ; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and other relatives and friends among them Delores Squire. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home(where she was the long-time vocalist), 2011 Grayland Avenue where the family will receive friends Friday from 6:30PM to 7:30PM. Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary Street where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Earl M. Brown(pastor) off. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Fifth Baptist Church(in the memo-building fund), 1415 W. Cary Street, Richmond, Virginia 23220 or the Alzheimers’ Association: act.alz.org. Family and friends assemble at the church 10:45AM Saturday.
