Willis Christopher Pittman, affectionately known as "Big Chris," was born on August 14, 1967, in Richmond, Virginia. He passed away on May 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy filled with laughter, love, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
A graduate of Franklin Military, Chris dedicated his career as a peer recovery support specialist at SAARA of Virginia LLC. His role allowed him to touch the lives of many, as he offered guidance and support to those in need. Willis was not only committed to his work but also sponsored individuals in Narcotics Anonymous, where he notably chaired the group White Flag. His rambunctious personality, combined with his caring and witty nature, made him a beloved figure among both colleagues and clients.
Chris was known for his joyous spirit, often sharing a joke or a smile with family and friends. He enjoyed listening to Parliament-Funkadelic, playing video games, and passionately supporting his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. These hobbies were more than interests; they were avenues through which he connected with others, bringing joy and camaraderie into every gathering.
Chris is preceded in death by his father, Willis Pittman, and his mother, Evelyn Ruff Pittman. He is survived by his two aunts, Ann Ruff and Madeline Ruff, along with eight cherished cousins: Roderick, Savet, Duan, Dwayne, James, Denet, Jozet, and Donna. Additionally, his close friends, Kimberley Scott and Pamela Bland, along with other relatives and friends, will forever treasure the memories created with him.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on May 23, 2025, at Joseph Jenkins Jr Funeral Home, located at 2011 Grayland Ave, Richmond, VA 23220, starting at 12:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who brought joy and compassion to all who knew him. Willis Christopher Pittman will be remembered deeply for his loving heart and the light he brought into the world.
