Barbara Sykes

Departed this life March 30^th, 2023.  Mrs.  Barbara Jean Sykes, age 82, formerly of New York.  She is preceded in death by her husband, John Sykes.  She is survived by three daughters, Dawn, Deborah and Devona Sykes;  two grandsons, Jahir Hill and Jared Sykes;  one sister, Daisy Sykes;  four brothers, Otis(Queenie), Carl(Jean), Russell and Dennis(Priscilla) Carroll;   a host of nieces, nephews and cousins;  one brother- in- law, Carroll P.  Sykes(Frances) and other relatives and friends among them an adopted son, Michael Hill.  Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr.  Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue where Mrs.  Sykes can be viewed Monday April 10^th from 10AM to 8PM.  Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday April 11^th at North Gayton Baptist Church, 3244 Pump Road where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time.  Rev.  James Hedgepeth(pastor) off.  Interment Seaboard North Carolina.  Family and friends assemble at the church 10:45AM Tuesday.
